Is it the most equitable way? I would be paying more in property taxes if we chose to live in a more expensive home instead of having a cheaper home and more money to spend elsewhere.

I also looked up the property taxes for the three apartment building I've called home in the past.

The one built in 1977 near I-94 on 25th St has a tax bill of about $760/unit and $620/unit without special assessments
The one built in 1995 near the 13th Ave. S. Cash wise has a tax bill of about $2,030/unit and $620/unit without special assessments. Based on what the exteriors look like from the street this one is in better shape than the Amber Valley building.
The one built in 2002 in Amber Valley has a tax bill of about $2,800/unit and $1,600/unit without special assessments

Our house built in 1959 has a tax bill of about $3,200 and we paid off our special assessments instead of paying interest to the city.
It's OK to not be OK.

Looks like the Dakota Dome is planning a 40 million dollar remodel to the east side after completing the west side

They want to build an indoor track with seating for 2,000 so football can permanently use the Dakota Dome

HERDBOT I don't see a video (yet). Do you know what the vote entails?

After reading the Forum article this next proposal and vote sounds like a nothing burger. Nothing reimagined, no fresh ideas, just a "we dropped the convention piece and 56% of those we surveyed said they would now vote yes." Unbelievable and so disappointing.

Yea, well "fresh ideas" meant that the citizens voted against the proposal. Basic is good. Let's get the most critical stuff done first and then worry about a convention center not tied to the DOME. The DOME Authority has the figures and stats and talked on the phone to hundreds of people. Why put out a voting proposal that is doomed to fail.

They conducted a survey of some 300 odd people in a city that has a population of 130,000. Of those, 56% said they would likely vote yes. 300 people??? There is no way this passes on a re-do vote.

They haven't released renderings or details yet. It was a poorly written premature article

I heard they want to do new seats and wifi with most of the original elements included. What they learned is some people opposed the conference center but supported the dome, some were confused by the conference center and some even thought it was a 3% sales tax, not a lodging tax. They learned people were ill informed and committed 100k to promoting it. NDSU needs to get behind this

The conference center may be a separate vote, not sure which election. I'm not as enthusiastic about it unless it's more of a convention center

Unreal that some thought it was a 3% sales tax. There was a local "chat room" on this and I swear to God I think I was the only one FOR the vote. I STRESSED it was a 1/4% sales tax, that it amounted to 25 cents per $100 of applicable purchases and there are no taxes on almost all groceries. They STILL bitched about it. I am on a FIXED INCOME, they said. The DOME people need to keep anything remotely with a lodging tax away from the vote because apparently SOME people think a LODGING TAX is the SAME as a sales tax.

And Fargo has the lowest SALES TAX in the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area. That surprises people but we do.
