CW said himself that his early conversations with the G+G started from a perspective of him asking for or asking how much they could give him and when he said it wasn't enough that's when coach Polasek took over the conversations and essentially told Cole this wasn't about just him and made him think about how the value of his NIL deal would impact the locker room. Cole said halfway through after talking with Coach P his(Cole's) mindset changed from what can the collective do for me to what can I do to make sure the collective is something that will benefit the entire team and not have a negative impact on the locker room.
Wow that is impactful. Good job Coach Polasek to put into perspective the reality of NIL that will have on that player. The $$ looks good at first, then factoring in taxes, impact of your former teammates and impact of new teammates. Wallet would have some near term $$ but if everything doesn't fall correctly could destroy rest of your career.

I am baffled with the frequency that taxes get mentioned in these conversations. As if everyone else in the country isn’t paying taxes on the money they earn and it is some novel thing that these poor people are going to have to cope with the exact same thing that everyone else deals with now.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

Well for easy math, let's say they are taxed 20%
So for every $100 we donate, the athletes will only see $80 so in essence that's what the donation becomes. That's frustrating because we've already paid tax on the money when we earned it, and this donation is not tax deductible. Not that we can change anything, but if people don't know, they should ask and they should receive an answer.

Already I am impressed even more with Polasek. He demonstrated speaking up and attempting to redirect Cole in a good way.

Just remember there are many variables. Experience, effectiveness, etc.

Not to some. Some just compare a man vs. a woman and say there is a difference but don't look any deeper.

Which is why salary transparency is important. I can look at a peer, understand their value to me, the team and the company and see their salary is in line with that value. OR I can look at a peer and see they are underpaid, overpaid, etc and that causes issues right? It only causes issues because your employer isn't paying everyone on the same scale/comparison. This is why companies don't want employees to know who is making what. They would have to 1)actually evaluate and understand each person/roles value to the bottom line 2)pay people based on that.

And that is just as wrong as paying candidate 1 more than candidate 2 when they have the exact same experience and education but are different gender or race.

A lot of times people don't have an accurate view of their abilities compared to others though and they blame it on discrimination of some type, so it can cause issues even if the differences are done for good reasons.
