Unseeded National Champion

Someone correct me if this isn't accurate, but my research shows the 1992 Marshall Thundering Herd with a regular season record of 8-3 as the last unseeded national champion. If you look at that box score it looks like a crazy game with Marshall winning with a late field goal over YSU.

Looks to me like 2004 JMU was the last unseeded team to do it. They were 9-2 instead of 8-3 though.
They played at 2 seed Furman and 3 seed W&M
