Personally I would count a fake field goal as a special teams play. They do say "while not on offense" but they start with the claim that no TDs have been scored on special teams.

I saw that article the other day too. And right, they had to thread that needle though a number of phrases to come up with their narrative. I wondered as i read the article who combs through the information/data to come up with some of these stories/headlines.
