I’ve come to believe that Roehl isn’t a terrible OC all the time. Only when it matters. Seriously.

When things are clicking he can get pretty creative and call a really good drive but in a situation where he needs to call a “good” play he crumbles and 90% of the time he calls for a run up the middle and usually but the QB.

It’s so painful to watch because there always seems to be an extended lead time for everyone in the stands to call the play many seconds before the ball is snapped.

Another huge example of how bad these coaches are at situational football.

Our recruiting on defense (especially d-line) has been poor and our tackling (no one has been taught that they have arms) has been terrible past couple games.

The defense stopped one USD drive the whole game. ONE. It'd have been two, but they gave one stop back on a stupid penalty, giving the Coyotes at least four points.

The offense scored on 4 out of 6 drives - and took four points of the board with a penalty. No NDSU offense works when the defense can't get any stops - and you can't give up 8+ points in the first half of a game with so few possessions.

The secondary should improve - not sure what room for growth there is elsewhere - other than I can't imagine we'll do much worse on starting field position.

This team just can't afford mental mistakes. I'm glad they're going on the road for two weeks - hopefully that gets them focused.

The Bison were down 3 scores at halftime and only had three possessions the whole 2nd half . So, given their clock usage, the offense and the defense needed to play nearly perfectly to have a chance to win.

We know the playcalling is terrible, but is that why Cam/Cole look like they haven't improved? Or is it a combination? Maybe Hedberg isn't the QB whisperer he is labeled, and we just had the right evaluations on the right guys leading to a string of QBs. When we dipped under Bohl, the first obvious weakness was the defense and QB play(and to an extent, lack of leadership, see also; QB play).

I think the untimely penalties were killer. First USD drive, we gave up a pass interference on 3rd down which gave them another chance at their touchdown. Next drive we try to respond and get a penalty that erases a Mathison TD grab. At the end of the game, that face mask penalty when we needed the stop, led to the game clinching FG for usd. Too tough to overcome. In past years, we had better players across the board. Nowadays, with the portal and NIL, it seems like we recruit local kids who might stick around instead of fringe FBS dudes. When we’re losing, I’m left wondering who is the leader of the team (from both a players and coaches perspective)

The thing is we decided, on purpose, after we were down by 3 scores that there were only going to be 6 drives in the whole game. That is galaxy brain coaching. And it that’s the only way we’re capable of running the offense that is galaxy brain coaching as well. We’ve been running the 5 minute offense 60 minutes a game for far too long now. When’s the last time we looked anything but incompetent in the 2 minute drill. Apparently we’re so bad at it now that we don’t even try.

I said it for years. most overrated coach on earth.

at this point I say throw Cole Payton out with the entire playbook Cams interception killed us. he missed numerous open wrs early and he doesn't have that "IT"factor. having to look to sidelines b4 a play is HS crap.

Third down, crucial play. USD calls a timeout.

Come out and line up again. Entz calls a time.

This is it bros, we've had several minutes to figure this out. What do we do?

    What. Do. We. Do?

    Headset crackles, some static.

It's TR up in the bro box.

Hard to blame the offense when they were put behind all game. The Cam pick didnt help. Just a weird game. Defense aint what it used to be and OLine aint physical anymore.
