they raised $50 Mill plus with ease for the IPF.
maybe if our basketball program was actually FORCED to get better via FBS invite things would be even better!
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?
Sure, but let’s break this down further.
There are around 68 P5 teams.
There are approx 65 G5 teams.
These really should be viewed as two distinct tiers.
Nearly all the P5 teams occupy the top 100.
So a top 5 FCS team is better than roughly half of the G5 FBS teams.
And, in addition a top 5 FCS team is likely better than some entire G5 conferences.
Very true and yet this still tells me the FCS is bad. Bad bad.
When anyone outside the top 5 FCS teams is worse than half of the G5 … the G5 is littered with shitty teams.
Not arguing against you in anyway. I just think anyway you look at Sagarin's ratings it shows how terrible 95% of the FCS really is.

I agree there are some real scrubs in the G5 also: teams like FIU, UMass, UTEP, and now SHSU. Some of those games are so sloppy it's painful to watch.
Just like FCS, the top 10-20 G5 are pretty good, and can compete with a fair number of P5 teams, but won't be taking down Georgia, Bama, or OSU.
Top half of MWC, AAC, and SBC are good and would be fun competition. And NDSU would be immediately competitive in those leagues. What I fail to understand sometimes is why anyone would want to join the scrubs. It really would be lesser competition.
I would very much enjoy NDSU being part of the G5 because like you said it’s not hard to imagine them immediately being in the top tier of that “division”.

Pretty simple:
MVFC top 6 [64.87 rating] are better head-to-head over CUSA top 6 [61.22] individually and as a group.
MVFC top 9 [61.05 rating] are also better than the CUSA 9 [58.12] on average.
It's the bottom 3 (Indiana St, Murray St, Western Ill) currently pulling us down.
I expect results to look even worse for CUSA later this year when the teams are connected.
