Default NCAA.com story on FCS players in the NFL

Every FCS and HBCU player on the initial 53-man 2023 NFL rosters | NCAA.com

According to the article, NDSU has 10 guys on 53-player rosters and the MVFC has 28. Of course, I expect this to go up for NDSU during the season - and this doesn't count practice squads or Jabril Cox.

NDSU has more NFL players than every other conference except the Big Sky.

    The MVFC:

NDSU 10 (but I count Jabril Cox so make that 11.)
    SDSU 4
    UNI 3
    Southern Illinois 3
    Youngstown State 3
    Missouri State 2
    Illinois State 1
    Indiana State 1
    South Dakota 1
    Western Illinois 0
    Murray State 0
    UND 0

    Bison-flavored teams: Cowboys (2), Bengals (1), Patriots (1), Jets (1), Titans (1), Chargers (1), Packers (1), Panthers (1), Buccaneers (1) - and I count Jabril as a Bison so Commanders (1) for 11. And when Wentz gets a team, that'll be 12.

But Tony said he does count Jabril, that was my point.

I was wondering what his name was! He's not on a 53-player list because he's on IR though.

My mistake about Jabril, I thought the Commanders signed him to be on the roster rather than the practice squad. Just a matter of time, imo.

He played the last preseason game. Did he get hurt? If you watched the last preseason game, #79 was the first guy to congratulate our boy #34 on his touchdown catch and run. I looked at the Cowboy roster today. Waletzko is listed, Cox isn't, so it's up to date. (could be wrong). Waletzko definitely is on the Cowboys' 53 man roster.

All I know is that he's not on this roster: 2023 Dallas Cowboys Roster - NFL Players - CBSSports.com

This story says that he suffered a shoulder injury: Cowboys place CB Nahshon Wright, OT Matt Waletzko on injured reserve (msn.com)

I did a little research and he missed his last game as a senior because of a shoulder injury, hurt it again during the 2022 preseason, came back from that and played on special teams and one offensive snap, hurt it again in practice in October 2022, and now the shoulder is bad again. The article makes it sound promising that he'll be back soon. Heck, I really hope that he gets better - gosh knows we've seen too many NDSU players' NFL careers hampered by injuries, but he's not on an the active roster.

BTW, the NCAA writer did a heckuva job of researching that article.

You are correct......me wrong. An article dated August 29 put Waletzko on the Cowboy 53; not so as of yesterday's roster. Wow, things change fast. 48 hour old articles are just that......old
