This is such a joke. They may be the worst team to ever be in the BSA/Scheels Arena. We have 14 guys on the roster. The top 8 rotation guys shouldn't play in this game. Our guys would get WAY more out of a full intrasquad scrimmage than playing against this team. Or have some type of alumni game vs our current roster.
Can my mens league team play them?

The pocket books are open - NDSU Athletics raises more money in donations than any public school in the Summit League (and private too most likely but don't know for sure). The blame doesn't belong with Richman either - I'm sure he'd rather have D1 home games. The blame goes to the athletic department who doesn't invest in men's basketball and it shows with the crappy home OOC schedules year after year.

One thing to remember is I believe this is a game that was added because WIU dropped out of the conference late in the game and left everybody in the Summit League scrambling for 2 more games. It's far from ideal but like was said above nearly every mid major in the country and even most P5 schools play a few non-D1 home games. Best way to fix it is to find more home and home opportunities with teams in similar situations. I do believe the SIU and ISU games we play on the road next week have return trips year so that'll be 2 good games along with hopefully another season of the Big Sky/Summit challenge adding one so just need to find 2 or 3 more quality home non-con games to put together a decent schedule, hope it can happen.

Obviously Duke is going to be able to get batter teams to play them than NDSU. As stated in other posts, this game was likely added when WIU dropped out. That limits the options even more. This should be a great chance for guys buried on the bench to play a lot of minutes. The only other option they probably had was to have one fewer game.

Yes we need games. No we do not need games against Oak Hills. I have been there numerous times and when you are there u wouldn't know its a school, but seems more like a camp for youth. For marketing purposes it is better to not even play this game.
    If it flies it dies.

Long for the days of freezing in the south stands of Dacotah Field.

Yes I agree, the coaching staff is only allowed to operate on the budget they are given is what I was getting at. I don't think anyone is a huge fan of Sunday's game opponent.

I think at some point the admin needs step in and find some more money to avoid what happened. This is like playing a high school team, nobody benefits from it.

I think our admin in general has done a piss poor job marketing the basketball program. If games are hard to get why not team up with St Thomas and bring in two other schools and play two games over a weekend in the Twin Cities. There is just no creativity and very little effort.
NDSU to the FBS always. In all ways.

I'm not sure when WIU dropping dropping, but it was late enough no amount of money would have helped.

Geography plays a factor as well. Fargo is far away from many places.

For perspective in Indy, I'm not much further from my sister-in-law in Orlando than I am from my sister in Fargo. And my home town (Minot) is farther than Orlando!

They could easily set up something like that in the Twin Cities but they may make less money doing that than hosting a D2 or bad D1 team.

Schedule an OOC game with another Summit League team who also lost a WIU game. Play an OOC home/home with UND for all I care (since they also would've lost two games with WIU) - would be better than this garbage. I don't necessarily buy that WIU excuse anyway since they've got 31 total regular season games scheduled this year when they've had 30 the last 2 years. Their 5 OOC home games (with 2 vs sub-D1 opponents) without Oak Hills this year would've been one more than they had last year.
