Bits and pieces from the Texas Tech website with info on today's series opener below:

UPDATE (Fri., 10 a.m.): Due to additional travel issues for the North Dakota State baseball team, Friday's first pitch has been shifted to 7 p.m.

Texas Tech and North Dakota State are set to square off against one another for the first time in their program's respective histories.

Date Texas Tech Projected Starters NDSU Projected Starters
Friday, April 7 RHP Brendan Girton (2-0, 4.83 ERA) RHP Cade Feeney (2-3, 5.91 ERA)

(If this information is accurate, it means a major departure from what has been the 3-day pitching rotation. For the entire season, the Game 1 starter has been Feeney, the Game 2 starter has been Max Loven, and the Game 3 starter has been Tristen Roehrich. Loven has struggled this year and currently is 1-2, with a 10.86 ERA and an opponent's batting average of .358. He has allowed 18 walks while only striking out 18 hitters in 29 innings pitched. Texas Tech is seeing double, as the Bison hitters produced 7 2-baggers in the offensive assault they launched down in Lubbock. Cade Feeney threw a great 6 innings, allowing only 3 hits while striking out 5 and walking only 2. He was followed by Skyler Riedinger, who pitched 3 innings, striking out 3 and walking 3. The defense backed them with some stellar outfield play, including diving catches by Kyle Law in right and Terrell Huggins in left. It was all you could ask for as the Bison (and the full moon) gave the #22 Red Raiders more than they could handle, defeating the home team 8-1.

Bison (8-20) (4-2): 8 runs on 13 hits, with no errors and 13 LOB
Red Raiders (20-10) (4-5): 1 run on 4 hits, with 2 errors and 5 LOB

    WP: Cade Feeney (3-3)
    LP: Brendan Girton (2-1)

Red Raiders: Mason Molina, Brandon Brekel (6), Zach Erdman, (8) Jase Lopez (8), Ryan Free (9) and Hudson White.

    WP: Mason Molina (3-2)

I completed a summary of game 3, but the site would not accept it. I'll try to find it again, but I don't have time right now to re-do it.

Final score was TT 8 - Bison 3.

Here is a basic re-do box score of game three. Bison bats were held in check and the Red Raiders used the long ball to do in the Bison 8-3 and win the series 2-1. Considering the travel issues that the team encountered and the fact that they played 3 games in 24 hours, NDSU represented themselves well on this trip. It is also worth noting that while the Red Raiders kept the Bison in the yard, the Herd hit 13 doubles in the series.

Texas Tech (22-10): 8 runs on 12 hits, with 1 error and 7 LOB
NDSU (8-22): 3 runs on 6 hits, with 0 errors and 4 LOB

    Batteries:

Bison: Parker Puetz, Carson Jacobs (5), Wyatt Nelson (6), Zak Endres (8) and Will Busch
Red Raiders: Trendan Parish, Kyle Robinson (7) and Dylan Maxcey

    WP: Trendan Parish (2-0)
    LP: Carson Jacobs (0-4)
    Save: Kyle Robinson (1)

Homeruns: Texas Tech - Gavin Kash 2 run to left center in the 4th, Kevin Bazzell solo to left in the 7th.

NDSU: Garrett Hill 2B, Peter Brookshaw 2-4, 2B, Carson Hake 2B.
Texas Tech: Zac Vooletich 2-3, 1 RBI, Kevin Bazzell 2-4, 1 RBI, Gage Harrelson 2 RBI, Nolan Hester 2-2, Tracer Lopez 2-2, Dylan Maxcey 2-3

Next up for the Bison is the U of M Gophers at Minneapolis for a single game on Tuesday Aprill 11th and a 3 game Summit League series at St. Paul with St. Thomas, Friday April 14th - Sunday April 16th.
    Damn, I'm Good!
