Default Bison vs Jackrabbits in Brookings March 31, April 1 and April 2

I have my doubts on this one going off as scheduled. While both teams are ready to go, Nature appears to have other ideas:

Here is the forecast for Brookings on Friday.

Fri 31 | Day - 33°, wind NNE 23 mph - Windy...with freezing rain early...changing to a mix of rain and snow in the afternoon. Potential for blizzard conditions. Temps nearly steady in the low to mid 30s. Winds NNE at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of precip 90%. Snow and ice accumulating 1 to 3 inches.

Fri 31 | Night - 11°, NNW 25 mph - Windy. Snow will end in the evening giving way to some clearing overnight. Low 11F. Winds NNW at 25 to 35 mph. Chance of snow 90%. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

At this point of never ending winter will the Bison baseball team get any home games this year? This junk is going to take weeks to melt at this rate.

The SLT is supposed to be in Fargo this year IIRC - that runs from 5/24-5/27. That might be the only time our guys get to play at home (assuming they finish in the top 4).

The games were moved by the SDSU admin last weekend.
The Jackrabbits have had their scheduled home-opening series against North Dakota State next weekend moved due to unplayable field conditions at Erv Huether Field. The two squads are now slated to play a doubleheader starting at noon Friday at Doc Ross Field located on the the Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The series is scheduled to conclude with a 7 p.m. game Saturday at Tal Anderson Field on the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus.

Neutral site games may be the bulk of the season for the XDSU's "home" schedules. I think that will be the case for the NSIC and North Star schools as well. I just saw that Dickinson State and Valley City State played a conference series in ARIZONA!!

Game 1 with the Jacks from Council Bluffs is in the books as a win for the Bison, as they down SDSU 10-2. Another great start by Cade Feeney and another big fly for Peter Brookshaw lead the way.

    NDSU (6-19) (3-1): 10 runs on 10 hits, with 1 error and 7 LOB
    SDSU (5-16) (1-3): 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 error and 9 LOB

    Batteries:
NDSU - Cade Feeney, Shea Zetterman (7), Riedinger (7) and Will Busch
SDSU - Jake Goble, Alex Clemons (5), Dylan Richey (8), Dane Toman (9) and Dagen Schramm

    WP: Cade Feeney (2-3)
    LP: Jake Goble (2-1)

Homeruns: NDSU - Peter Brookshaw (9) 2 run to right field in the 3rd inning.

NDSU: Terrell Huggins - 2-3 with 2b and 3 RBI. Peter Brookshaw - 2-4 with a 2b, HR, and 2 RBI. James Dunlap- 2-2 with 2 RBI. Will Busch 2-5 with 1 RBI.
    SDSU: Jess Bellows - 3-5. Cade Stuff - 2B

    Game 2 on the way!!

For the second time in the last three games, a late inning 3-run homer has been the curse, as the Jacks use a three-run homer in the eighth to break a 6-all tie then hang on to defeat the Bison 9-8. It should not have been that close at the end, but 4 of the Jacks first 6 runs reached base by either BB or HBP. Free rides have been a weakness of this pitching staff. Need to clean that up if we are to contend for a league title and a post season berth.

    SDSU (6-16) (2-3): 9 runs on 9 hits, with 2 errors and 12 LOB
    NDSU (6-20) (3-2): 8 runs on9 hits, with 1 error and 6 LOB

    Batteries:

NDSU: Max Loven, Carson Jacobs (4), Nolan Johnson (7), Ligtenberg (8) and Stephen Lund
SDSU: Reece Argobast, Eli Sundquist (4), Dylan Driessen (4), Ryan Bourassa (6) and Ryan McDonald

    WP: Ryan Bourassa: (!-2)
    LP: Nolan Johnson: (1-1)

    Home runs:
NDSU - Druw Sackett - 2 run to left in the 3rd. James Dunlap - solo to center in the 4th. Stephen Lund, 2 run to left in the 9th.
SDSU - Ryan McDonald - Grand Slam to center in the 2nd. Thatcher Kozal 3 run to center in the 8th.

Bison: Jack Steil - 2-4 with a 2B. Davis Hamilton 1-3 with a 2B and 1 RBI. Peter Brookshaw 1-3 with a 2b. Druw Sackett 1-4 with a HR and 2 RBI. James Dunlap 1-4 with a HR and 1 RBI. Stepen Lund- 1-5 with a HR and 2 RBI.
Jacks: Ryan McDonald 3-4 with a HR and 4 RBI. Thatcher Kozal - 1-1 with a HR ands 3 RBI.

Saturday evening the teams will move across the river to Tal Anderson Field in Omaha for the rubber game of the series.

Game three of the series played at Tal Anderson Field in Omaha had every indication of an offensive contest, with 2 runs by the Bison in the top of the first being followed by a 3-spot for the Jacks in the bottom half of the inning. But, the combination of Bison starter Tristen Roehrich bearing down and recording 9 strikeouts before leaving the game and the Jacks defense cutting down 2 Bison runners at the plate turned this into an entertaining ballgame.
Parker Puetz came on in the 7th and struck out 5 to preserve the Bison victory. Bison 5 - Jacks 4. Bison also win the series 2 games to 1.

    Bison (7-20) (4-2): 5 runs on 7 hits, with 0 errors and 3 LOB
    Jacks (6-16) (2-4): 4 runs on 6 hits, with 0 errors and 6 LOB

    Batteries:

NDSU: Tristen Roehrich, Parker Puetz (7) and Will Busch
SDSU: Jack Kruger, Blake Kunz (3), Brady Hawkins (6) Eli Sundquist (9) and Ryan McDonald

    WP: Tristen Roehrich (2-4)
    LP: Jack Kruger (0-2)
    Save: Parker Puetz (1)

Homeruns: SDSU - Cade Stuff (2), 2 run to left center in the 1st inning. Ryan McDonald (10), solo to right center in the 7th
NDSU - Druw Sacket (7), solo to left in the 5th inning.

    NDSU: Druw Sacket - 2 for 4, HR 1 RBI. Stephen Lund - 2 for 4, 2B and 2 RBI. Jack Steil - 1 RBI. Peter Brookshaw - 1 RBI. Jack Dunlap - 2B.
    SDSU: Ryan McDonald - 2 for 3, 2B, HR and 1 RBI. Cade Stuff - 1 for 4, HR and 2 RBI. Luke Ira - 3B

Next up for the Bison, another trip to Texas to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders next weekend.
