Another Iowa hammer committed to the Bison. Koufax Christensen from Waukee Northwest. Good lightweight pickup for the Bison.

Last Oct at the National High School Recruiting Show he lost 10-6 in the finals of the 126 pound weight class to Iowa Recruit Kale Peterson. It looks like he moved up a weight class to wrestle 126. IMO he was every bit as good as Peterson but was just that much smaller (He wrestled 120 during this past HS season and Peterson wrestled 132). Very hard to keep down and he didn’t look tired at all at the end of the match. Looks like another good one from Iowa on the way.

In the Des Moines Register article it was mentioned how current BiZon Spencer Mooberry was trying to build an Iowa pipeline to NDSU. Koufax commented that they should be paying Spencer for the way he’s recruiting Iowa.
Bison fans are blessed. Enjoy it.

    Flo's article about Hopke's recruiting

    https://www.flowrestling.org/article...ege-commitment

    A few nuggets:
"After 9 months of the recruiting process, Hopke has narrowed down his decision to 4 teams. Hopke’s not ready to publicly release his top 4 yet because he still has official visits left to take. So far, he’s only taken official visits to Minnesota and Wisconsin. However, he shared he’s excited to make his commitment and will likely commit some time in the early summer. "

"According to Koy’s dad Byron, “NIL is a part of every school we’re looking at.”

"The Hopke’s are a tight-knit family and it’s clear they’re making this important decision together."

Kid got a 34 on his ACT.

His brother is on the baseball team, which helps. The NIL comment doesn't bode well for NDSU IMO. I'd gladly throw some money towards using his likeness to get him to come here.

With NIL, it will be really hard to compete for guys like this against teams whose boosters have deep pockets. If he really wants to be at the same school as his brother, that could just as easily happen by the brother leaving through the portal.

I didn't think of that but now that you say it, baseball might be losing a guy.

Depends on how much baseball he wants to play. The BiZon have played 36 games and he’s pitched 2.2 innings with an ERA over 16. The schools his brother is probably looking at most likely have better baseball teams than the BiZon.

Per Willie Saylor, Koy Hopke has made his decision and should announce in the next day or two.

I don't think NDSU has a realistic chance, but man, would it be great to land him. I think he's a future NCAA champ

Any news on if the recruits coming this year and next. Let's hope they are still on board with being a Bison.
Is it possible they would want to go with Kish? Hope the guys we got now want to stay. It is one of them things, you see someone running the opposite direction. You want to know why but sometimes you start running just in case. The guys sticking around would show confidence in the program.

Great article on Intermat with Obe talking about how he’s aware of the vultures wanting to poach but how he feels the BiZon culture will win out. He said he had a meeting with the team with in 24 hours of it being announced he was taking over telling them they’re all wanted here and nobody was losing a spot. He also said he’s excited about increasing the focus the BiZon wrestling club an international side of things. Portal closes Sunday May 7 so things look good.
