So similar to Division 1 wrestling, also the level where NDSU competes at?

I would agree that college hockey is about as popular as college wrestling.

Ouch. The accuracy of this statement will be lost on those in the bunker.

Both have a passionate niche following and get great attendance at their national tournament. And are also 2 of the 5 NCAA championships that operate in the black. Name the other 3. This is out of 90 total championships across 3 divisions.

My 3rd guess would not have been Tennis but I can’t think of a better candidate…
    …maybe soccer?

Great job! The 5 are men's basketball, men's ice hockey, baseball, men's wrestling, and men's lacrosse. Basketball is obvious and 80 of the NCAA revenue. The College World Series is huge with a good TV deal and good attendance. The other 3 are niche sports and somewhat regional so the travel costs are less. And their championship is well supported by fans of that niche. They are all broadcast as well, but I'm not sure how good the deals are there. FBS football championship is not an NCAA event, CFP is a separate entity. FCS championship is their only D1 football championship, and it doesn't make enough to cover its own expenses. But I would guess it looses a smaller percentage than many others.

I'd like to see us invest a bit more in some of these sports, especially the first 3. We're reaching the point where dumping more into football may not move the needle a lot. If we have other strong programs, that can help us with conference invites also.
