The Longhorns hold serve in the first ever match-up with the Bison, overcoming an early Bison lead for a 7-2 victory over the Herd. It was a bullpen night, as the Bison used 4 pitchers in the contest in a road trip that has 8 games set to be played in 11 days. No one went more than 3 innings for the Bison while reliever Charlie Hurley threw 5.1 scoreless innings in earning the win for Texas.

Bison (1-15): 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 error and 8 LOB
Longhorns (10-7): 7 runs on 8 hits with no errors and 11 LOB

    WP: Charlie Hurley (1-0)
    LP: Carson Jacobs (0-2)

    Homeruns: None

    NDSU: Druw Sacket - 2 for 4, 2B and 1 RBI, Jack Steil - 2B
Texas: Jayden Duplantier - 2 for 2 with 2RBI, Porter Brown 2 for 3 with 1 RBI, and Eric Kennedy with a 2B and 2 RBI

Re-match tomorrow at 6:30 PM CDT

It was another case of an early lead disappearing in the late innings, as runs by the Longhorns in the 7th and 8th innings were the difference in tonight's 7-4 loss to Texas. It was an interesting game, tied at 4 all after 6 innings, but the Bison continue to leave runners stranded early in the game. In fact, when your opponents lead you in team batting average .311 to .245, you cannot win when you have left a team total 140 men on base compared to 120 LOB for your foe

Bison (1-16): 4 runs on 9 hits, with zero errors and 12 LOB
Longhorns (11-7): 7 runs on 10 hits, with one error and 6 LOB

    WP: Cody Howard (1-0)
    LP: Joey Danielson (0-2)
    Save: Zane Morehouse (1)

Homeruns: Eric Kennedy, solo in the 3rd, Dylan Campbell, 2 run in the 5th, Eric Kennedy ,solo in the 7th.
    Bison: None

    Bison: Druw Sackett - 2-4 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI, Davis Hamilton - 2-4, Cadyn Schwabe - 2-5 with 2 RBI

NDSU has tied the all-time mark for consecutive losses, extending the current streak to 13 games. The outcome of Friday's game with the Houston Christian University Huskies (1-15) will determine whether the 2023 Bison will enter the record books with sole possession of the record ownership in this dubious category. Game is set for 2:00 PM Friday at Husky Field in Houston.
