It's the same old story as the Bison bullpen can't finish a great start by Cade Feeney, surrendering 6 runs on 4 home runs in the bottom of the eighth to turn a five-run lead into a one run loss. Game 1 of the Texas State series goes to the Bobcats by the score of 8 to 7.

Bison (1-12): 7 runs on 8 hits, with 1 error and 4 LOB
Bobcats (8-5): 8 runs on 10 hits, with no errors and 4 LOB

    WP: Dylan Kerbow (1-0)
    LP: Joey Danielson (0-2)
    Save: Triston Dixon (3)

Homeruns: NDSU - Druw Sackett (5), 2 run to left field in the 4th inning, Stephen Lund (3), 2 run to left field in the 4th inning, and James Dunlap (2), 2 run to left- center in the 6th inning. Texas State - Ryan Leary (6), 2-run to Left-center in the 5th, Jose Gonzalez (7), 3-run to right in the 8th inning, Daylan Pena (6), solo to left field in the 8th inning, August Ramirez (5), solo to left fields in the 8th inning, and Ryan Leary, solo to left-center in the 8th inning.

The Bison have been out-scored 21 to 2 in the eighth inning this season....

In a game that some might confuse with the MLB All-Star Game Homerun Derby, Freshman Chase Mora from Texas State leads the way with 4 of his teams 7 dingers and piles up 9 RBI. But NDSU answers with a freshman of their own, as Kyle Law gets a 9th inning grand slam (his first hit as a Bison) to give the Bison a 1-run lead going into the bottom of the 9th! Alas, the Bobcats answer with a 2-run walk off homerun by August Ramirez to extend the Bison losing streak to 10 games with a dramatic 19-18 for the home team.

Bison: 18 runs on 20 hits with no errors and 10 LOB
Bobcats: 19 runs on 15 hits with 1 error and 6 LOB

    WP: Reece Gould (1-0)
    LP: Skyler Reidinger (0-2)

Home runs: Bison - Terrell Huggins, solo to left center in the 3rd inning, Peter Brookshaw, solo to right center in the 3rd inning, Stephen Lund, 2-run to left center in the 3rd inning, Terrell Huggins, solo to left in the 5th inning, Peter Brookshaw, solo to right in the 5th inning, Jack Steil, solo to right center in the 8th inning, and Kyle Law, grand slam to left center in the 9th inning. Bobcats: - Chase Mora, 3 run to right in the 2nd inning, Rashan Galloway, 3 run to center in the 2nd inning, Chase Mora, 2 run to right center in the 3rd inning, Chase Mora - 3-run to right center in the 4th inning, Chase Mora, solo to center in the 8th inning, Cade Manning, solo to left center in the 8th inning, and August Ramirez, 2 run walk-off to left in the 9th inning.

The losing streak has now reached 11 games, as the Bison fall to Texas State 5-1 in the final game of the 3-game series in San Marcos. The silver lining rests in the fact that the Bison are competitive in almost every game that they have played against what may be the hardest schedule they have ever faced. Tristen Roehrich pitched a strong 5 and 2/3 innings, surrendering only 1 unearned run while striking out 12 Bobcats, before the bull pen failed to hold hold up their end of the bargain yet again. The Bison hitters were slowed down as they faced Texas State's #1 starter, who was skipped earlier in the series as he battled an injury. Overall, the bats for both teams were much quieter with the wind blowing in today.

Bison (1-13): 1 run on 4 hits, with 2 errors and 7 LOB
Bobcats (9-5): 5 runs on 11 hits, with 1 error and 7 LOB

    WP: Levi Wells (3-0)
    LP: Tristen Roehrich (0-4)

    Homeruns: None

It's on to Austin with a 2-game set with the Longhorns on Tuesday and Wednesday.
