Quarter million metro is plenty big. 686k within a 100 mile radius. 2 major interstates intersect. Not enough hotels? We had enough to host 4 straight Garth Brooks sellouts which drew 73k. Within a 2 week period we host the largest wrestling tournament in the world, a fair that draws 140k, a street fair that draws 150k and a 30k person airshow every other year

Not sure what gives Sioux Falls alumni diversity. Minnesota has the most alumni from all 4 Dakota schools, but Fargo borders Minnesota

Sioux Falls has the better arena, but the dome has a basketball configuration. Its not terrible when its a good crowd. The last game played there was in 2010 and it drew 10,700

Hotels??? Are you implying Fargo lacks enough Hotels??? Seriously?

Facility is really your only valid point.
Sioux Falls metro is 280, but their metro definition covers like 2 additional counties. It would be like the FM metro counting Otter Tail and/or Becker County. Very similar populations

If they are talking ethinic diversity (maybe he forgot a comma) Sioux Falls is 83% White. Fargo is 80% white. We'll call that a push. Venue quality is the only advantage but we could hold more at the dome

Gabe, you have selective memory. The last NDSU game in the FargoDome was in 2012. There was nowhere near 10,700 in attendance for that game. The game you are referencing was the first game back from the NDSU/UND rivalry. A very specific, one time example for attendance.

The fact that Fargo does not have a neutral site arena that is of the quality and capacity of Sioux Falls, Twin Cities, Omaha, Kansas City, etc. is not even debatable.

Not selective, I forgot about that one, it was 5,168 vs a 1 win UND team in the Big Sky. It was also during a football playoff run

Imagine what NDSU vs UND would draw in a meaningful playoff game. How about NDSU vs UND in womens basketball?

I've never been to Sioux Falls because its during a freaking weekday but the NDSU win last night drew 7707. That game would have drawn just as big in Fargo

The dome isn't as nice, but thats not the only factor.

The dome is a complete dump for basketball. Maybe the renovation will fix some of the issues if it ever happens.
NDSU to the FBS always. In all ways.

If the crowds are good its like the metrodome. Way too big but adequate.

The problem with this is Sioux Falls can say the relevant things here too, plus they got the better arena and a proven track record of running a good tourney.

Tough to sell Fargo when its objectively in a worse location than Sioux Falls in a similar town in a less nice venue. It is what it is.

I mean you're right, but you didn't list a bunch of BS to justify the position.

What I meant was that there is significant alumni from multiple universities in the SF area … including UND and NDSU alumni.
