What I've heard is conferences generally prefer 14 if they decide to have divisions.
With an 8 game conference schedule, gives them 6 divisional games, and 2 cross-division.
The P4 are expanding past that point, so perhaps the old rules are out the door.
IF ESPN really wants us, and will pay to have us added, it could happen. It's ALWAYS about the money with FBS conferences.

We won't get invited. CUSA has the ASun/WAC "UAC" schools on speed dial if needed.
They are footprint/geography focused now, media revenues don't support travel.
