Louie DePrez of Binghamton who got hurt in his finals match with Owen Pentz at the Southern Scuffle is done for the season and it looks like his career. He has been added to the Binghamton coaching staff. Two time All American that up until the scuffle had given Pentz fits in their matches. Too bad for the kid

For my Flo brethren, Jared Franek was the featured guest on the Bader show today.

Nice 1/2 hour interview with Franek. He says the words confident and/or confidence about 50 times. Also looks like he’s about 95% sure he’ll be coming back for a sixth year next year.

Looks like the Bison sent some guys to the Don Olson Open in wisconsin last weekend. Drexler took 1st at 141, Petersen took 1st at 149, Johnson took 1st at 165 and Habisch took 1st at 174. Duda took 7th at 285, i didnt know he was moving to heavyweight.

Do we expect Johnson to stay at 165? Would be nice if he could slot in at 157 after Franek’s gone.

Boeden Greenley will be in that 157/165 conversation too. Kish and company have recruited well, will be interesting to see how a bunch of these weights play out.

I’m guessing they talked him into since there’s no back up for Mora. The roster now has him listed as a HWT.

Agree. Recruiting seems to have really picked up. It would be nice to get some hammers at 125/133. That would really round out the lineup.

Nice to see most of the reserves get a bunch of matches in an open. The lack of matches for freshmen and backups is easily the worst part of the new redshirt rule IMO (lack of matches for Barreto being a great example). If the rule stays in tact, I'm hoping some regional coaches get together and balance out the open tournaments between the two semesters (Dak and Bison in separate, Dragon and Cobber in separate, etc). It would give the freshmen time to adjust to college, learn to train in an NCAA room, and then get a bunch of matches without having to travel far in the 2nd semester; while still leave some open tournaments in the first semester to settle a few contested weights.
