One has to understand, in todays age of large egos, the Portal’s value is a soft fall and landing, or a quiet exit. While most think the Portal is a step to the big time, for most it is not.

Hence, it is not the boogeyman that (some) people make it out to be.

It ruins trying to follow kids in college sports. Nice seeing kids develop and grow as athletes. Especially if you're donating your money to a program eh.

Perhaps if they were fairly compensated on multi year contracts as opposed to it being every man for themselves season to season.

Then the question is what is fair compensation? Even more so in the olympic sports where few schools have donors that will offer lots of money to wrestlers, gymnasts, or water polers (my name for someone who plays water polo.)

It's OK to not be OK.

Seems like one way to determine fair compensation would be to let a lightly regulated market do that job for you much as it does for most employment.

A couple of our wrestlers seem to have found nice new gigs at Iowa.

    Amateurs shouldn't get compensated.

Compensating the participants would bastardize the amateur sporting community and completely ruin all athletic competition forever..........but compensating those who coach and administrate those sports is totally cool.
