Think we need to be more inclusive than that and we don't need to actually define these tiers of fandom but....

It is ok to have bandwagon peaks in a teams history as that is often how you get new lifetime fans into the fold, along with the chaff. The bandwagon fans are more along the lines of fans that leave when the going gets tough but we haven't been in that territory for more than a decade so it is a bit unfair to rule out some potentially great lifetime fans. The time will eventually come for them to prove their mettle (maybe sooner than later).

What if you're a current student or a recent graduate of NDSU from outstate? Not a "real" fan I suppose. Seems like a really shortsighted view and part of the problem that is fueling the decline in attendance/engagement. Oh well, at least the ol' boys club will get their dome back. Without the bandwagoners everyone left will be able to fit inside the new IPF and tailgate. Maybe that was the goal for building it all along.
