Like it or not UND is still NDSU's 2nd biggest draw when it comes to opponents. Call it a rivalry or don't (personally I don't think it's a rivalry again until UND wins a game in the D1 era) but it doesn't change the fact that it stirs up the fan interest more than any opponent outside of SDSU.

I agree, our closest opponent is our 2nd biggest draw, but only in years when we don’t play UNI. Or JMU.

As far as it being such a big draw, that says more about the rest of the Valley than it does for UND.
