Our safeties in the past have often made big game changing plays in big games. I just have not seen that very often the last few years. Not calling out players as coaches and schemes/calls have to put safeties in the correct position too. Names like Heagle, Dudzik, Grimsley, Jimmy football etc and could be missing some too.

Utilizing a safety to equalize or unbalance the O vs D numbers is a scheme/call thing and yes can be risk/reward. But I really hope for us to be more aggressive with our safeties going forward. It is way easier for a safety to make a tackle closer to line of scrimmage in a lane than letting the runner get open field and a head of steam. I think our corner talent is good enough to be more aggressive with outer safeties. But, when given chance they then have to make the play too.

Maybe the defense wasn't spectacular, but they did as well as any other FCS defense against the SDSU this year.
It's OK to not be OK.

No we could still win a championship with this team, but we could also lose right away too. Depends if the defense shows up and if the offense can save their butts.

I dont think they'd beat any of the national championship teams. But they are probably good enough to win one anyway

tackling & toughness has always been a trademark of NDSU DEFENSE
.head hunting, knocking guys on thier asses, flying into a tackle. SEEN NONE OF THAT ON THIS SQUAD.

Thats where I'm at. A lot of games left, and SDSU always seems to have our number regular season.
We will improve, and I would be pretty shocked to see us lose another regular season game.

The bracket this year will be interesting. We still might have a shot at 2 seed if we win out.
