I had the rare opportunity of meeting him many years ago. I was flying back from Detroit after some business with Ford. After landing in MSP I took a flight back back to Fargo. A small plane may be 50 people or so. There were some folks from UND. One man in particular was constantly saying something to UND folks, everybody in the flight were laughing. He did not stop , the whole journey from MSP to Fargo we were all laughing including the flight attendants, because there was a lot of back and forth. A lady who looked like Michelle Pfeiffer was sitting next to me and I asked her who is this man and she said, shame on you , you are wearing a NDSU hoodie , dont you know he is Darrel Mudra. Godfather of Bison football. RIP Mr. Mudra, I will never forget this incident.
The man was a winner and created a tradition that reflects that. RIP.

NDSU has gone 556-142-4 since his first year coaching at NDSU in 1963. Most teams don't have that many wins in their program history.
Didn't the PA announcer at the Arizona game give Coach Mudra a shout out?
RIP coach.
He took over as HC and turned NDSU into the 79.2% winning percentage we know today.
And since he started, the Bison have had only had THREE losing seasons.
That is DAMN good!
