Yea it's gonna be close. 4-5 years ago it was a must to grab $20, $50 or $100 of those, last few years have waned.

They specifically say the pot STARTS at 50k not guaranteed to be 50k. So to me that means Teammakers put up 50k to get things started. Also assuming there were no "tickets sold" for that 50k. (legality of it I have no idea)

Last year when no one claimed the 50/50 for the Indiana St game the pot for the USD game started out at $45k and got to $197k (so basically tripled a normal game with the extras people bought). That was with a few thousand empty seats IIRC. With a homecoming sellout and the pot starting at $50k it should eclipse $200k easily if they stay on pace with the USD game last year meaning the winner will get over $100k.

Exactly. Teammakers will easily make up the $25k extra going to the winner.

    The winner received $71,031.

So, the total pot was $142,062. Subtract the $50K and you have sales of $92,062 on Saturday.

$46,031 of the new sales went to the winner. $46,031 went to scholarships. But the $25,000 extra paid the winner reduced the net profit to $21,031. Below normal standards.

    Did I get that right?

In my opinion, they should have announced this the day before the game, not over a week early.

You subtracted the 50k then split the remainder then removed another 25k.

Here is how I would think about it.

Total pot: $142,062 This came from:
    Pot sweetener: $50,000 (cost)
    Ticket sales: $92,062

So.....they only took in revenue of $92,062. They paid out $71,031. Thus, I get the same profit number of $21,031.

Yep, put that idea back on the shelf. I was very surprised they did it when I realized they needed to sell more than $50k more than normal to make up for it. It is okay if everyone says TSCF was right. My ego likes it.

Got it. Running through it again laid out this way clicked better for me.

Yeah, I was surprised to see it that low - they didn't even double what a "normal" amount of 50/50 sales would be. That said I didn't see any of the 50/50 people walking through the lots after the first hour or two of tailgating but probably harder to pick them out amongst the mass of people later in the morning. I only bought once during tailgating and had to buy in the east lobby coming into the game and then on the concourse towards the end of the 2nd quarter to get my 3 sets of numbers spread out a bit.
