Someone asked me to share these. Here is week 1 with some good stuff. Enjoy. Good comments on targeting at the beginning. He didn't mention one change which should reduce the number of targeting fouls. The definition of the crown of the helmet was changed to be more limiting. Last year it included the forehead part of the helmet as well and it's now back to just the top. I believe that was the original definition as well. There was a Bison player ejected last year or the year before for that kind of hit. I think it's a good change.

Sounds like he's saying SDSU should've gotten the 2 points. In the game they reviewed the play and took the 2 points off the board.

Looks like you are right. This should have 2 points for SDSU. I also attend a weekly training session for replay with Dean Blandino and he used this play as well. He never nentioned replay overturned it. He agreed with Shaws interpretation of the play.

This week's video has a couple interesting plays. The last one was making the rounds of officials this week. The key question we had was if the marker was considered official's equipment. The chain crew is considered part of the officiating crew so it was a legitimate thought. In this context Shaw is saying no but I still think it's a possible argument. What if it hits the ball while still touching OOB (similar to the pylon)? It appears the player may have intentionally moved the marker to keep the ball from going OOB. No matter how much you do this you will still see something you've never seen or considered.
