RIP to Mike Wieser - he passed away in 2009 before NDSU's dominant run started but his legend through that iconic play will live on as long as Bison football is a thing.
Wentz would've been redshirting that year so it would've been Esley Thorton to get the start I think. On a related note what if the Bison had secured a commit from their first choice at QB in the 2009 class with AJ Westendorp (who ended up having an inconspicuous career at Central Michigan)? Then Brock Jensen likely goes D2 (which I believe were his only other offers) and who knows when the QB position would've gotten solidified coming out of the Mertens/Mohler era???
