    Default Newman Outdoor Field

I went to a Redhawks game recently and I'm blown away how good of a job they've done maintaining and upgrading the stadium

Dumb question but do the Redhawks, City of Fargo or NDSU fund upgrades?

The days of hosting the American Legion world series has passed, but shouldn't we be hosting the Great Plains regional? It seems to be in Rapid City and Sioux Falls. Also we will be hosting the Summit League tournament next year. Really we should have the potential to draw really well with 5 teams fan bases within a 3 hour drive

The only thing the stadium needs to take it to the next level is something in the outfield. Like a multi story structure with rooftop seating with a concourse. Not enough room in right or left field but there is plenty of space in center and left center. Could they ever build something and then do a thin row of outfield seats (like 3 or 4 rows) along the outfield wall with a walkway behind it? They could have a separate entrance to center field too

You can build anything you want if you have the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

We need the Civic and Dome upgrades first. The dome is having a meeting in July

I did some research and the city is responsible for most of the structure of the stadium, but not the locker rooms, offices, batting cages or any upgrades

The Redhaws fund all stadium upgrades and refused to do any expansions in 2019 until the city fixed the roof which was leaking. They fixed it in 2020

The Redhawks also funded the 3 tier deck along 3rd base and the new Armadillo seating on 3rd, as well as the video board. They seemed to do much of the upgrades when the original loan from the city was paid back in full

I also learned if the Redhawks fold any time during their 40 year lease and the city can't find a new team within 2 years, NDSU will own the stadium

I also learned Arlette Preston, who was on the City Commission back in 1995, voted no on Newman Outdoor Field and also called the Fargodome a potential giant grain bin years earlier

Upgrades??? Upgrades??? The main topic (and probably the only one) will be beer sales at football games and the restrictions pertaining to beer consumption. If I'm wrong, Bot, I'll buy you your first inside the dome football game beer.

The future July meeting is definitely for the expansion project. That is the widening of the concourses and bathroom additions. They were going to do this in 2019 and they put it on hold in June of 2019. An expansion isn't required to sell beer but the need for more restrooms and space for a beer garden is probably more important than ever. Beer makes people pee. Plus Tony Gehrig was the main holdup and he's been replaced by Denise Kolpack. I would assume Mahoney and Piepkorn would support it. Strand maybe. Preston hates NDSU and anything sports related
