The opening match of the season versus Tarleton State University is an interesting one, that's for sure.
And what's going on with Incarnate Word? They seem to be all over the place in terms of their conference. It's like they can't make up their mind.
The opening match with TSU will definitely be interesting. Brand new program, former Bison head coach, TSU's first official game.
Maybe Pete will share some secrets on how to make the Summit League tournament?
Will the Bison have enough cohesion to beat a team playing their first official game in program history?
At least they follow that game up with Southern, one of the 10 worst DI teams last year with an RPI of 334/342. Granted, NDSU was 302/342 but still should be able to beat a SWAC team.
Hopefully they can build some confidence and carry that into conference play.
RPIs of non- conference opponents (out of 342 teams):
Viterbo- NAIA, but fairly decent
Tarleton State University- Never played an official NCAA game
Southern- 334
Utah Tech (formerly Dixie State)-250
Chicago State- 337
Wyoming- 244
Northern Colorado- 213
Green Bay- 202
Drake- 176 (actually televised on WDAY Xtra)
Idaho- 256
Montana- 136
Top 2 teams in the Summit League last year were 84 and 116. 5th team (Omaha) in the Summit was 174. Just to show where the Bison need to elevate their play to be a contender in the conference.

They looked pretty good out there tonight. Granted, Viterbo definitely had some weaknesses on the field.
7 goals is only 2 off from their scoring output for the entire 2021 season of 16 games.
They defeated Viterbo 3-0 back in 2019 and finished over .500 on the season. Hopefully they can keep finding the back of the net in preseason and take that momentum into conference play.

Tarleton defeated A&M Corpus Christi, 1-0 in an exhibition game. There were the #300 RPI team last season, NDSU was #302. Makes this upcoming game even more interesting.

NDSU ends up with the tie 1-1 vs Tarleton State.
Looks like the Bison scored a quick goal in the first minute and Tarleton tied the game in the second half at the 70th minute.
At least they're getting the ball in the goal. Only one more goal to tie last year's season scoring output.

Bison tie Southern U 0-0.
Southern was in the bottom 10 in RPI (out of 342) last year with only 1 D1 win. Their head coach has a USSF E License which isn't even a current license and is recognized as a youth license. Most D1 schools have an A licensed head coach with C or D licensed assistants (such as NDSU).
Seriously. WTF has happened to this program?
It used to be fairly strong, at least at the conference level and maybe mid-pack in RPI. Where's the peeps that were scorning Mark Cook not having any college level coaching experience?
Now it's swirling at the bottom of the conference and RPI.

just like hockey. play all that time for a tie? haha
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?![]()
