Fargo forecast looks the same (if not worse), so no benefit to changing location. Weather, why you be like that???

Option could be to move it another three hours South to Omaha, as they're out of town this weekend and the forecast is not quite AS bad as Fargo/Brookings.

Excellent thought. A neutral field is a good option. I'm guessing that any move in that direction would have to be initiated by the host and agreed upon by the visitor. Do you think the Jacks are that anxious to get their asses whooped?

    LAST TIME OUT
NDSU rolled past Oral Roberts, 10-2, last Saturday to win the weekend series. The Bison totaled 15 hits as a team with six different players contributing at least two. Druw Sackett went 3-of-5 at the plate with one RBI and one run. Evan Sankey picked up the win tossing three strikeouts over 6.0 innings. Tristen Roehrich earned his fifth save of the season with three strikeouts over the final 3.0 innings.

NCBWA STOPPER OF THE YEAR MIDSEASON WATCH LIST
Senior right-handed pitcher Jake Drew and junior right-handed pitcher Tristen Roehrich have been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List. NDSU is one of only four schools in the nation with multiple players selected joining Michigan, Arizona and UCLA.

Drew has made 13 appearances on the mound this season with a 2-0 overall record. He boasts a 0.00 ERA over 14.2 innings pitched. The Alexandria, Minn., native has notched a career-high six saves this season, which is tied for ninth on the NDSU all-time single-season list. Drew also hasn't allowed a hit in his last five appearances on the mound.

Roehrich has made 11 appearances this season with a 4-1 overall record. He has registered a 2.19 ERA over 37.0 innings. The West Fargo, N.D., native has fired 41 total strikeouts and has limited opponents to .207 batting average. Roehrich, who was named Summit League Pitcher of the Week on March 21, has also contributed a career-high five saves this season.

    KINGS OF THE ROAD
The Bison were originally scheduled to play their first 27 games of the season on the road, but weather has forced schedule changes and NDSU has started the season playing each of its first 36 games away from home. The Bison have now registered at least one win in nine different states this season.

    BY THE NUMBERS
NDSU leads the Summit League in five major statistical categories: ERA (1st, 4.01), home runs (T-1st, 39), on-base percentage (1st, .381), sacrifice bunts (1st, 26) and slugging percentage (1st, .428).

The Bison pitching staff boasts a 4.01 ERA this season, which ranks 26th in the nation. NDSU is also slotted second in the Summit League and 32nd in the nation in shutouts with three.

Individually, Cade Feeney, Max Loven and Evan Sankey all lead the Summit League in games started with 10. Logan Williams also leads the conference in home runs (1st, 10), home runs per game (1st, 0.34) and runs batted in per game (1st, 1.07). Calen Schwabe paces the Summit League and ranks seventh in the nation in sacrifice bunts (10). He is also leading the conference and ranks sixth in the country in sacrifice bunts per game (.29)

    HITTING THE LONG BALL
The Bison have connected on 39 home runs, which leads the Summit League and ranks tied for ninth on the NDSU single-season list. Logan Williams paces the conference with 10 home runs, while Peter Brookshaw ranks tied for 10th and has launched a career-high six this season.

    LIGHTS OUT
The Bison pitching staff has earned 14 saves this season, which ranks third on the NDSU all-time single-season list. Four different pitchers have contributed at least one save this season. Last season, NDSU set a program record with 27 total saves.

    ON HISTORIC PACE
Logan Williams has connected on a team-high 10 home runs this season, which leads the Summit League. His 10 home runs are also the most in the NDSU Division I era in a single-season and tied for 11th overall on the NDSU all-time single season list.

Williams assembled a streak of seven games with a home run from March 15-March 27. The NCAA record for consecutive games with a with a home run is nine, which was set by Nevada's Tyler Bosetti in 2021 from April 24-May 9.

Williams had a performance to remember at Northern Colorado with two grand slams and a career-high eight RBI to help the Bison to a 15-1 win. His eight RBI were the most in the NDSU Division I era and one shy of the program record of nine.

    LOVEN CLIMBS THE RANKS
Max Loven has made 10 appearances on the bump this season and boasts a 5-3 overall record. He has fired 41 total strikeouts to increase his career total to 185, which positions him in seventh place on the all-time NDSU strikeout list. Loven has also totaled 228 innings pitched and is slotted in fifth place on the NDSU all-time innings pitched list. He's one of only nine players in program history to pitch in 200 innings or more.

    This preview from gojacks.com:

"The South Dakota State baseball team begins the second half of its Summit League schedule by hosting league-leading North Dakota State in a three-game weekend series at Erv Huether Field.

Friday's series opener is slated for a 3 p.m. first pitch, with games Saturday and Sunday set for 1 p.m.

The Jackrabbits enter the series having won 10 of their 12 games during the month of April to improve to 16-17 overall and 7-5 in The Summit League. SDSU won three straight nonconference games since winning two of three games in a Summit series April 15-17 at Northern Colorado.

NDSU holds the league lead at 11-4 despite not playing a home game yet this season. The Bison, 23-13 overall, claimed two of three games in a series at Oral Roberts last weekend to take over the top spot in the standings.

THE SERIES: Friday's series opener will mark the 201st meeting on the baseball diamond between SDSU and North Dakota State. In the series that dates back to 1956, the Jackrabbits hold a 124-76 lead.

Since the two programs joined The Summit League at the start of the 2008 season, the Jackrabbits hold a 34-33 edge in league regular season games. NDSU won five of the eight games the squads played during the 2021 season.

SDSU and NDSU split a four-game series played April 23-24, 2021, at Erv Huether Field. After the Bison won the opener, 5-0, as three pitchers combined on a seven-hit shutout and Nick Emanuel, Jake Malec and Peter Brookshaw all hit solo home runs in the first three innings.

The Jackrabbits claimed the next two games, rallying for a 3-2 victory in the second game of the April 23 twinbill and posting a 12-2, eight-inning win in the first game of an April 24 doubleheader. Ryan McDonald tied Game 2 of the series at 2-all with a seventh-inning home run, while Drew Beazley singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

In the April 24 opener, Landon Badger hit three home runs, including a grand slam, en route to eight RBIs. NDSU later salvaged a split of the doubleheader and series by outlasting the Jackrabbits for a 13-12, 10-inning victory.

The Bison took the season series by winning three of four games played May 14-16 in Fargo, North Dakota. The Jackrabbits' lone victory was a 5-0 shutout in the second game of a May 14 twinbill as Drew Beazley and Ryan Bourassa combined on a three-hitter with nine strikeouts. Luke Ira capped the scoring with a two-run homer."

Looks like game 1 of the series if starting a little earlier than planned due to the forecast for later today. Thunderstorms may arrive around 5-5:30 PM.

Starting pitchers are Max Loven (5-3, 4.94 ERA) for NDSU and Nic McCay (2-2, 4.37 ERA) for the Jacks.

Scoreless 1st inning, with both teams getting one hit each. Bison get 2 singles but strand both runners in the second, while Loven retires the side on 11 pitches. Scoreless after 2 innings.

NDSU gets a 1-out single by Druw Sackett with no harm done to the Jacks, and SDSU goes 1-2-3 to keep the game scoreless heading to the 4th. McCay sits the Bison down in order in the top half, and Loven plunks the lead-off man and retires the next 3 hitters. Both starters are pitching like they've been watching the weather radar.

It took until the 5th, but the Bison have figured things out offensively. 2 singles, a sac bunt and a 2 RBI double by Druw Sacket draws first blood. A double by Peter Brookshaw produced a third run and a single by Logan Williams drove home Brookshaw. A wild pitch and a single by Will Busch puts runners on the corners and prompts a pitching change, as Alex Clemons (0-0, 5.21 ERA) is on for the Jacks. An RBI single by Cadyn Schwabe closed out the scoring for the Bison. Five runs on 6 hits in the top of the inning.
Loven issues a walk to lead off the bottom of the inning and surrenders the second single of game for the Jacks to put runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Max reaches for a little extra and strikes out the next 2 batters to keep the score Bison 5, Jacks 0 as the game becomes official after 5.

A walk and an RBI single by Brookshaw scores the 6th run for the Bison. Another walk puts runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 out in the sixth and leads to another pitching change for the 'Rabbits. Dane Toman (0-0, 6.57 ERA) comes on and strikes out PH Huggins to retire the side. The Jacks get a pair of 2 out singles and an RBI double puts SDSU on the board with runners on 2nd and 3rd. A groundout leaves them stranded and the Bison lead 6-1 after six innings. Loven is at 91 pitches, so we'll see if he comes out to pitch the bottom of the 7th.

The Bison have a quick 1-2-3 vs Clemons and Loven is out to begin the bottom of the 7th. He wastes no time in retiring the Jacks on 9 pitches.
Still 6-1 Bison after 7 complete.

Reece Arbogast (1-1, 4.41 ERA) comes out to pitch the 8th for the Jackrabbits. He surrenders a single to Calen Schwabe and throws a wild pitch to put a runner in scoring position with 2 out. An infield hit puts runners on the corners and causes another pitching change for SDSU. Joe Husak (0-0, 8.59 ERA) comes in to see if he can get the 3rd out of the inning. A stolen base puts runners on 2nd and 3rd and Logan Williams delivers a 2-run single to greet Husak. Williams promptly steals second base, but the top of the 8th ends on a strikeout.

Loven's day ends with another great outing a lowing 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. Skyler Riedinger (1-1, 2.51 ERA, and 2 saves) takes over on the bump. Eight pitches later, we are in the 9th, 8-1 Bison.
