Game 1 of the three-game set has NDSU (19-10, 7-2 SL) with Max Loven (4-2, 4.11 ERA) on the hill, while Omaha (5-15, 6-2 SL) will counter with Caleb Riedel (2-1, 0.83 ERA). NDSU will be the home team for this series. Omaha sandwiches a walk and a single between 3 strikeouts and strands 2 in the first. The Bison go three up, three down. No score after one.

Omaha goes 1-2-3 in the second, and the Bison do the same.

A two-out single by the Mavs is followed by a flyball out to end the top of the 3rd. The bottom half has NDSU going down in order. Looks like Riedel's ERA is well earned.

Loven having a good night on the mound as well, setting down the Mavs in the top of the 4th. Loven has 6 strikeouts through the first 4 Omaha innings.
Brookshaw gets the first hit for the Bison with 2 out, but Williams gets caught looking. A pitching duel as it is still scoreless after 4.

Mavs get another single and a stolen base to put a runner in scoring position, but Loven gets his 2nd strikeout of the innng to end the threat in the top of the 5th. A one out walk to Sacket is followed by a single by Busch and the Bison have their first real threat of the game with runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. A walk to Calen Schwabe loads the bases with 2 out. Lead-off hitter Brock Anderson steps to the plate and takes a called third strike. Still 0-0 after 5 complete.

The #2, #3, and clean-up hitters coming to the plate for the Mavs in the top of the 6th. And an error and a double put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no one out. A ground ball to 3rd baseman Hesse results in an out at home, with runners moving to 1st and 2nd. Infield fly to short for the 2nd out. Omaha tries to advance the runners with a double steal and the Bison cut down the runner going to second and Loven escapes the inning without giving up a run.
The Bison also have the #2, #3, and clean-up hitters coming to the plate in their half of the inning. and Cadyn Schwabe leads off with a single. Schwabe stole second with 1 out and scored on a Logan Williams ground rule double to left on a 2-2 count. A walk to Simonsen give SU runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Loven retires the first 2 batters in the 7th before giving up a single and giving way to reliever Tristen Roehrich (4-10 with 3 saves, 2.56 ERA. Runners on 1st and 2nd after an infield hit by Omaha but the side is retired on a groundout. It's "Take me Out to the Ballgame" time and the Bison bat in the seventh.
Hesse leads off with a single and ends the night for Riedel, who is replaced by Tyler Mattingley (0-0, 10.80 ERA. Calen Schwabe moves the runner to second with a sac bunt but Mattingley does his job and retires the next 2 hitters. Still 1-0 Bison after 7 complete.

Roehrich walks the lead-off hitter for the Mavs, and the Summit League leading hitter, Mike Boeve with a .380 average, steps to the plate and flies out to center. The clean-up hitter for Omaha comes to the plate and a stolen base puts the tying run in scoring position. Hit batsman puts runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. A sac fly puts runners on the corners with 2 out. Roehrich strikes out the batter to end the top of the 8th inning. The Bison, looking for some insurance in the bottom of the 8th, open with a strikeout followed by a flyball to the left field warning track and a groundout to close the eith. 1-0 Bison.

Looking for 3 outs to end this, the Bison face the bottom of the order for the Mavs. Roehrich strikes out the side to end it. Bison maintain 1st place in the Summit League with a 1-0 gem over Omaha.
