2021 Playoffs, Quarterfinals: ETSU Preview

Over on their board one has posted that NDSU came into FCS just when such power houses as App State and Georgia Southern were going to FBS. While we never played App State we have a 3-0 record against Georgia Southern. Their board is screwed up, I registered 4 days ago and still haven't been verified. They could have done themselves and NDSU a favor if they had denied Lakes.

Yes...I believe it was Charleston Southern, 2016, in the dome comes to mind. Lotta talk about rolling over an undersized D line that just didn't happen.

I really think that some of the wrinkles Roehl put into the run game would do some serious damage to the types of schemes teams like the one Charlestown Southern came up with to deal with NDSU power.

Would have to think we get the Friday night game, unless Saturday is a prime slot on ESPN.

Not sure where the smiling reference came from. We did miss a few personal fouls where defenders were knocked down and then the lineman jumped on them. They had so many big pancake blocks. Two of their juniors are being recruited by Notre Dame and Ohio State.

With any new team coming in it’s hard to know what to expect. If NDSU and the fans bring the A game, I expect a comfortable margin. But I expect ETSU to come in with a nothing to lose attitude and some confidence having beat Vanderbilt and with last weekend’s cardiac comeback. Say what you want about Vanderbilt but any FCS team knocking off an SEC program deserves some respect. And they can build off last weeks win as a sign of destiny. A chip and a chair, they have both. Take nothing for granted which I don’t think the team or coaches will do. I expect a somewhat close game at half due to limited possessions as both teams look to operate methodically on offense with NDSU pulling away in the second half as the o-line grinds on their undersized d-line.

Well, it seems the coaches and team may have taken ETSU for granted a bit. Fast half with limited possessions. 1 hour and 19 minute for a half is blazing fast lol.
