2021 Playoffs, Quarterfinals: ETSU Preview

A little oppo research re: Saturday's game. My son is a sophomore at ETSU. Visited him during Family Weekend earlier this fall and took in the game against Wofford.

The Buccaneers are a decidedly run-first team. The quarterback is a gamer and crafty but is limited as a thrower. Their defense is inconsistent.

This has been a magical season for ETSU, and fans in the region have rallied around the team, which is saying something because all roads lead to Knoxville and Big Orange in the fall. Fun team to root for.

That said, I'd be surprised if NDSU doesn't win by at least three scores. I've seen a few games of each team, and NDSU looks more physical across the board and more skilled at the positions that matter.

People from eastern Tennessee are nice folks, so be kind to them as they spread their money around in the hotels, restaurants and bars in the F-M area. I have a feeling they're going to be miserable for three hours Saturday afternoon.

Not sure if this has been posted. Some NDSU-ETSU connection. ETSU's starting center, Joe Schreiber, is a former Bison player. Redshirted in 2018, played in 2019 before transferring to Iowa Western JUCO to play in 2020.
