People are not understanding the argument.

People dont want "close games" because we get worse. Its not fun to watch a bad team have a close game against another bad team. What they are really saying is that "we want interesting games against competitive opponents"

If the only goal was to curb stomp teams, and not have competitive or interesting games, we should move down to D2 or D3 because #naTiOnAlChAmPiOnShIpS and #bLoWOuTs.

and to the euphoric glee of the FCS4ever movement, D2 has come to us. now we can have all the blowouts and championships we could ever dream of. Not because we got better, but because everyone good has left, and everyone remaining got worse. super duper exciting
    1. The FCS was the Best option for NDSU for a very long time.
    2. As a general rule- the FCS sucks at football and has proven that is not committed to football at all.
    3. It's time to go FBS

And yet, at least for now, we have some of the highest caliber athletes in the history of the program.

    Curious.

Agreed! I think we are getting better and better recruits on the average

Nothing in your comment negates anything in my comment. They are both true

Yeah, I wasn't making an argument but rather an observation. Thus my conclusion.
