What does budget have to do with whether or not they're willing to extend a football only invite to us? Not every single idiosyncratic piece of every university is the same.

Sure makes sense. That might be the reality of what invites might ever come but I wonder how many of the FBS or Bust crowd are all in if a football only invite is off the table.

When has a football only invite really been on the table for NDSU????? I’m pretty sure this is why NDSU hasn’t announced its leaving for the CUSA yet. The CUSA is trying to find all sports schools to keep them afloat, once they are stable NDSU may get that football only invite ( or finally accept the football only invite). It could all be lined up as we talk and NDSU might be the one waiting to see if the CUSA is finally stable….

All of this is true/possible.

I just think most arguing to go FBS so hard are assuming it's possible to get a football only invite. Not that one has been offered.

All in all everyone in these threads has been rehashing the same 5-10 arguments for about a thousand posts now. But I get it, when you have no facts and a bunch of passion it's hard to just state a stance and come back when there is some actual news.

To be fair, if the Big 12 offered us tomorrow I would be extremely suspicious of their motive and would want to know more. They're probably on the verge of collapse with everyone else leaving.

So you're suspicious of any FBS offer it sounds like.

I think the biggest thing that will bring people around to leaving FCS is our two biggest national rivals plus JSU have now left.. We have maybe EWU as an out of Conference national rival? maybe the Montana teams? All the rest either suck or we have zero history with them in big games.. We are in store for some really boring football.. can anyone even remember the last time you left a Bison game and thought "oh my god I cant believe we won that game!!!" 10 years at least... FBS would be an adventure.. every win a new milestone.. winning a FBS conference title is our new big goal.. get ranked nationally- make the top 15 etc.. Then see what happens down the road... We have done all we can in FCS.. if we won the next 10 titles and went 148-2 the next decade it would mean nothing against PUD teams...
