I disagree.

It actually allows more schools the chance to end the status quo of elite FCS programs winning, thus empowering parity in an NCAA division that needs it

As El Chapo mentioned, the rub seems to be that there will be 2 new autobids and that will most likely reduce the number of teams from the FCS power conferences that gets into the playoffs.

Dumb idea... they could add two more AQs and still keep it at 24 since there's only 10 AQs now and they need to have at least as many at-large as AQs. If the MEAC went back to wanting an AQ along with the newly formed ASUN and WAC then things would have to expand beyond 24 (or I'd prefer they just take away the Pioneer's autobid).

But expanding the playoffs would primarily help the MVFC, Big Sky, and CAA because they're the conferences who most likely get teams squeezed out by having two fewer at-large bids. Still it's a dumb idea... if a team has 3 or 4 teams finish higher than them in the conference standings they shouldn't expect a playoff spot.

Yeah, even at 12 AQ the 24 team format seems fine to me. They just have to give the byes to the right teams, but that’s the biggest issue regardless of the number of AQs.

Izzo had McFeely on his show this morning and they talked about it a bit there too. They both think it's ridiculous and has all the stink of what happened in D2 back in the late 80s. They are both right and there would be no bigger sign to me that NDSU needs to get the hell out of the FCS than if this were to come to pass.
