Because we own it, it generates 60 million annually to the local economy, and actually generates a surplus which is 50 million. It needs more convention space, wider concourses and more bathrooms. They will use the surplus fund to work on that.

We should build another larger arena and have 2. We're a much bigger community than we were 30 years ago.

There are certainly downsides to an outdoor venue but the upsides are much greater to giving up the notion of perfect comfort year round. Even an outdoor stadium with construction costs the way that they are will be $300M at a minimum.

As someone else pointed out, you can't look at the cost of ANYTHING older than 5 years to do a cost comparison.
Dykehouse Stadium cost 65 million and it's really nice. The only way an outdoor stadium costs that much is if it's a 50k with TCF Bank amenities.

Not sure why you made this purple. Can you imagine how much money they would make if the stadium was open air but the concession was underground heated enclosed and served beer for Chapo/Lakes?

No room for sales tax until 2028 but contrary to popular belief, you can go higher than what we are. Williston has an 8% sales tax

But I think it would take more than a sales tax. It would have to be a mix of private, public, and some fundraising

    Easier said than done

It’s now Huntington and it was finished 12 years ago as I posted earlier today.

This is a "Fargo First" mentality, not an NDSU first one.

Mosaic stadium with a roof over the top would be perfect. CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughrider’s stadium

Sept 2009 is 12 years ago and it's a Big Ten stadium with capacity of 51,000. We don't need a Big Ten caliber 51,000 seat stadium

The UAB stadium was opened in 2021 and it cost 175 million. 45,000 downtown Birmingham. It's part funded by car rental taxes and the University. It's owned and operated by the Birmingham Civic Center Authority

    Dykehouse was 65 million.

Getting cheap land is key. The Fargodome got their land for a buck a year

What we need is a 30 to 35000 seat indoor arena with modern amenities like suits. A private public partnership. With donated land we could do it for 300 million. Wouldn't be super fancy though
