It was indeed the property of Blue Key. But that's not the point. UND (and NDSU) had control over the trophy, whether it ostensibly belonged to Blue Key or not. Without UND's official participation there was no Nickel trophy.

Which is why it's in the building of old stuff in Bismarck and not played for anymore. As it should be. It was a fun time but that time has passed.
