No clue. I would think 197 is a better fit because of his strength advantage, plus, I don't know what we'd do at 197. Mooberry isn't strong enough and Nelson hasn't had much success as a starter

I hope Mora works out, I don't see a heavyweight currently in the portal that's a significant upgrade. I'm sure there will be alot more movement with the season ending though. If we are going to struggle at a weight I'd rather struggle with a young wrestler rather than a transfer like we did at 125 this year.

Going off how the tournament played out isn't proof that the selections were correct. Tournament results are indicators of participants abilities, but also there's a fair share of luck with draws and matchups.

David Ferrante from Northwestern was 11-11 seeded 33 and went 0-2. What do you do with that?

Lyon being a #30 seed who went on a run proves that he wasn't as good as Hidlay, better than Jessen, Kane, Cochran and Moore, and not as good Romero. (3 of those matches were Big 10 matchups, and shocker a big 10 wrestler won)

Jessen was #32 and went 0-2 in the same bracket as Lyon that doesn't mean he wasn't qualified. It just means the guys he lost to were better on Thursday.

Comparing All Americans (AA’s) to the number of Automatic Qualifiers (AQ’s) by conference

Pac12 - 23 AQ’s/13 AA’s/57%
Big 10 - 88 AQ’s/39 AA’s/44%
ACC - 39 AQ’s/10 AA’s/26%
Big 12 - 58 AQ’s/10 AA’s/17%

I didn’t go back and add in the At Large bids but it wouldn’t have changed a whole lot. PAC 12 had a great tournament with almost 60% of their wrestlers finishing Top 8. ACC had as many AA’s as the Big 12 and its a six team league. IMO makes the Big 12’s performance look even tougher.
