Unless schools play a more equally difficult schedule, this will always be an issue/question.

Using just Sagarin is very logical, but doesn't really penalize for losses, just margin of victory/defeat. On the other hand, using just W/L may seem "fair" at a glance, but everyone knows the conferences aren't of equal quality.

Therefore they end up compromising and using some of both, which is probably the best they can do. Unfortunately, this open it up to logically inconsistent results that can be found by either side. So in the end, no one is happy.

It's a real conundrum. As a MVFC fan, I'm partial to the Sagarin view of the world. That said, I see what TransAm is saying. Theoretically (and maybe it actually happens), you could have a losing record and be Sagarin ranked higher than undefeated conference winners and that just seems weird. Although you could argue that's what autobids are for.
I get what others are saying and I know Sagarin isn't subjective...I'm just saying it has a flaw...one that benefits UNI. I don't really care how close they play people...a loss is a loss. And no 6-5 team should ever be in the playoffs. The biggest problem is finding 24 deserving teams to be in the playoffs. When a team has 5 losses, they already proved they can't win in the playoffs.

You are probably correct most of the time with your thoughts in regards to this. But a unranked UNI team held EWU to 19 points while a 7 seed Montana gave up 41 points. So which team played EWU better? Yes I know you will say Montana but they gave up 41 points.

I see what you are saying...but UNI still lost. They can play right with everybody...and lose. Now, I have a healthy respect for UNI...and there is never a game with them that I think we for sure are going to win. But it really irritates me that they got in at 6-5. I swear there was a minimum 7 wins needed to get in.

Actually according to the guys from the ESPN+ broadcast, we have recruited enough folks from down south that we now have southern speed.

It's almost like it's bound to happen when you compare one game to a formula that looks at an entire season's body of work. Almost

I'm curious what the Vegas line would be if they played again. Maybe Ohio State doesn't match up well with UM this year. Or maybe they just had a bad day on the road in a rivalry game. Maybe both?

I was rooting for UM big time in that game. If they played again... Id GUESS OSU would rip them limb from limb, but who knows. Michigan bullied them all day
    1. The FCS was the Best option for NDSU for a very long time.
    2. As a general rule- the FCS sucks at football and has proven that is not committed to football at all.
    3. It's time to go FBS

I was at Huntington Bank Stadium at the beginning of the year to see the Gophers play Ohio State. Having watched the last two Michigan games on TV my take is that Michigan is actually legit this year.

I’m not much of an expert though. Just my $0.02
