His health problems had an impact but he fixed the disaster that basement Brewster left. I would even say Mason was a decent hire, especially considering he never had the facilities the current staff enjoys. Not sure where you have to go before those guys...Holtz probably?
NDSU to the FBS always. In all ways.

not sure if joking....but definitely no on both of them.
Clem had 3 top 25 finishes in like 13 years and 2 of them were during the academic scandel that he was definitely aware of. (and their final 4 wiped from the books)

Tubby Smith was probably the best hire they made in recent memory, at least success wise.

Love it when Minnesota coaches who’ve done jack shit at UofM and are linked to other jobs. Like after the first year of pitino, he was supposed to move on to bigger and better things and he didn’t because he wasn’t very good. Same with fleck and USC. Think USC sees yesterday’s bullshit and says we need that guy.

There’s one coach in all of college sports that’s worth being paid what he is. Darth Saban.

Even Dabo is falling back to earth without a Watson or Lawrence to carry him. All of the other coaches who carry the title of being a states highest earning employee while not transitioning that into a competitive football team should be embarrassed, tarred and feathered by the public at the town square. They won’t. So ADs fire them, pony up enough donation money for buyouts or pay them to not work there and move on to the next highly likely 5 year failure of a coach.

    Default Gophers 2021 season

Was watching the ESPN 30 for 30 “Long Gone Summer” the other day about McGuire and Sosa chasing the single season HR record. Really stood out that McGuire was traded to the Cardinals in August 1997 (HR record season was ‘98). Last year of his contract.

He was a California kid and grew up an angels fan. Sounded like he was 99% sure he would play somewhere in Southern California in 1998.

Went into a bad slump- something like 2 for 28 when he first got to St. Louis. Then out of nowhere the fans started giving him a standing ovation to encourage him out of the slump. I believe strikes out on the 1st one. Next at bat- another standing ovation and BAM Home run. He decided he loved the fans/town and wanted to play there and just keeps blasting the ball.

Made me think of Minnesota and how their poor fans can’t catch a break from all the shitty teams and coaches for some reason. We were so fucking lucky to have Thome hitting bombs and Favre kicking ass at the end of their careers. And still I listen to Minnesota fans bitch about Favre and how he screwed “us” throwing “that pick”.

It’s AMAZING how well a lot of players do when they leave here…
