The first down lines displayed on the screen were nice, even if they were a little off sometimes. Those pylon cams with cameras pointed down the sideline and across the goal line probably cost too much for any local broadcast and WDAY's production equipment may only support so many cameras.

I think the tech is fairly close(5-10 years) to use 3D extrapolation for visual perspective calls like this. A computer uses the feeds from three or more cameras to create a model of the goal line perspective without actually having a goal line camera. At least a couple of the big networks have played around with the tech for a few years on NFL and major college games. So far it's too expensive(computer hardware) and too time consuming to use for official replays, but Moore's Law says it's just a matter of time until the tech is cheap and fast enough to make it a part of all broadcasting trucks.

(Of course there will also be a fight over allowing officials to use a "simulated" camera angle as opposed to only traditional ones. But that's another discussion.)

Goal line technology has been used in soccer since 2012, I'm sure they could figure it out by now if they really wanted it.

Williston and Dickinson both can't OTA. I brought this up when it was announced WDAY took over and was dismissed by everyone including Dom Izzo. To get the Bison games in Western ND you have to have cable. This is a huge fail by NDSU.
