They don't ask him because they know he isn't going to give them any kind of answer worth reporting on.

They did ask him on the coaches radio show and he gave a total non-answer.

I misunderstood you. Almost always when people say "Kansas/Illinois have zero shot at a championship" they're whinging about how the playoff needs to expand to approximately 1024 spots.

In 2007 KU was a game away from playing OU in the Big XII championship game. They were 11-0 and ranked #2 in the BCS but lost to Missouri. Had they gone on to beat Missouri and OU they would have been a lock to play Ohio State for the Natty. A 10-2 LSU team got the invite instead and ending up crushing Ohio State.

K-State got even closer in 98 but melted down in the Big XII Championship game against Texas A&M after building a big lead . It was announced at the game that #3 UCLA had lost meaning #2 K-State was a lock to play for the Natty with a win. It was melt down city from that point.

It’s not against any “law”, but asking that question in that setting belies common sense and intelligence, so I get where you are coming from.
