Perhaps you should look at the depth chart again.

You did look at it, right???
So Coach Entz had a small recruiting class for his 1st class as Head Coach, due to a small senior class.
Have you looked at that depth chart yet?
So, 6 true freshman are on the two-deep. Plus 2 more on special teams.
6.
Grey Zabel is starting at RG. A true freshman on the OLine!
Shades of Billy Turner/Joe Haeg......
But Zabel is the poster guy for everything you dislike about the Bison.
Zero stars (247) and only 2 competing FCS offers.
You’d better start a Fire Grey Zabel thread.
And what about Mason Miller? Why is he on there?
Chapo better run him off. Only 2 stars, 2 offers. Not good enough for Lakes!
Have you looked at the depth chart yet?
So there are 10 RFr on it......
As far as backfill with transfers goes, that is for many reasons.
But Especially roster attrition.
Two RB’s leave, well, get a FBS transfer to fill a need for size & depth at RB.
Backfilling also helps balance out class size.
And, as Coach Entz has stated, you can’t keep replacing veteran players who go to the transfer portal with freshman.
It’s the new normal. If NDSU averaged 2 recruited transfers a year in the past 10 years, expect 3-4-5 going forward with the new rules. It will still be less than most FCS teams......
iirc you gave Coach Entz’ 1st recruiting class a C-
I’ll go with a solid B.
One thing I always look at is - How many recruits did NDSU lose to other FCS teams, especially MVFC teams? Can’t think of any off the top of my head although I’m sure there may be some.
Solid B, It was, after all, a small scholarship class.
Good thing the walk on program is so solid!
I know, I know, Chapo really dislikes the walk on program......
GoBizon!
