It is much nicer when as a fan I realize I have no idea if it was a bad play call, a poorly executed play, or the defense called a play that matched up perfectly with our play call. It is very liberating as a fan.

I complained about TR's play calling more than once this year. In the playoffs it really looked like he had things going well.

What you saw on Saturday was:

    1. Coaching staff putting players in optimal positions to make plays.
    2. Competent QB play
    3. Impressive use of formations
    4. Innovation of an offense to utilize the best of QP2's talents

Dare I go so far as to say:

    5. Great work by Tyler Roehl?
I too must learn to shut my mouth, trust the coaches as I was sooo mad at TR and Entz earlier in the season on boring, predictable playing, and yet to wait until the end of the season is upon us to see if we have improved through out the year! And man did we improve and begin to peak going into the playoffs, a coaches dream and still win the conference. I will shut up, trust the coaches, and just hope it all works out to another National title in 2022/23. I agree with all your quotes. Your spot on.

You may. And I agree completely.
Saturday’s planning, calls, and execution were as close to a perfect game as is possible. It was a beautiful thing to watch on both offensive and defensive sides of the ball. It was a far cry from the games where many (including me) were calling for a change on the OC position. I truly hope we keep seeing this level of coaching (and execution) going into next season.

Montana State sucks, overrated. We'll be back next fall with this thread.

I do think MSU was so overmatched that almost every play worked and they were getting pushed off the ball 3-4 yards easy. Makes things a lot easier when the D is lost, tired and doesn't want to be there anymore.

When the D is overmatched that bad it does make the OC look even better.

That said I do think TR got much better at gameplanning and play calling at the end of the year and through the playoffs.

Luepke vs JMU was enough for me to see he gets it. At least some times.

Really happy he reads Bisonville and reacted appropriately to the guidance as provided.

probably this. Plus I high fived him at halftime. so that helped.

Tyler had some issues and learned from mistakes and that's a good thing.

I ate my crow before the playoffs started thank you very much.

...but I'd still like to see a hurry up set that's not late in a half where they do something other than run the same play.

Play calling was awful pre Miller. Has been very good since.
