Default NDSU at Kansas City 1/29 & 1/30

    This week’s NET Rankings:

    SDSU - 96
    USD - 170
    NDSU - 177
    ORU - 201
    KC - 240
    FiHaw - 294
    Omaha - 311
    WIU - 324
    Denver - 344

It’s good to see KC is not the anchor of the Summit League, but adding KC and the Fighting Hawks the last 2 seasons has not helped the Summit’s national ranking as a conference. KC finished 2020 at 252 in the NET Rankings. But, they were necessary additions to stabilize the Summit plus give it a nice geographical footprint.

KC (6-9, 2-4 Summit) has been playing competitive ball lately, losing to South Dakota 66-64 and 68-62 - Western Illinois series cancelled - losing to ORU 60-58 before winning 81-76 last weekend.

I was really looking forward to going to these games in person, but no fans for the remainder of season for UMKC. Not sure about TV, but just in case, it looks like UMKC will be streaming this on their website:
    Men's Basketball - University of Missouri-Kansas City (kcroos.com)
North Dakota State, a football team the big boys of college football should avoid like the plague, helped christen a $90 million renovation to Snyder Family Stadium — including a statue of famed Kansas State coach Bill Snyder himself — by taking a sledgehammer to the place.

Stop their 1 guy Brandon Mckissic and its an easy sweep.
    Play smart, reduce turnovers.
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?

Watched the ORU games, McKissic did whatever he wanted vs ORU . . . lived at the hole. Wasn't much different with Abmus, he did what he wanted. Obanor had an off night on Sunday, and ORU could not hang. ORU looked like Defense Optional, KC not much better. Looked like you Beat these team playing defense.

Would rather force McK to shoot jumpers vs. layups. Need to have Rocky and Nelly at the rim, and our best defender on him. Who is our best on ball defender? Griesel, Eady?? McK roamed without the ball until the clock hit 12, then was the goto guy. Allick shot it well and cleaned it up when people helped on McK. Get Allick in foul trouble, and KC is pretty darn small.

    Is MHH back this weekend?

My guess is Eady will draw the match up on McKissic, he generally draws the opponents best player. Allick and Rocky will be a fun match up, both bigs can shoot the ball. UMKC is a defense first team, I wouldn't expect any shootouts this weekend. They will try and be physical with us and guard the ball hard.

Abmus went at KC and didn't have much problem getting open for good looks and getting to the hole. Down the stretch Sunday, KC's defense struggled and gave up lots of easy looks.

KC does rebound well for being a relatively small team, starting 6'2, 6'3, 6'4, 6'5, 6'8. Nobody off the bench taller than 6'6, one or two taller guys injured.
