Word is coming out that the MEAC is wanting/getting its autobid. Hope this turns out to be an April Fools Joke.

The MEAC cancelled its season but allowed teams to play if they wanted. Only three teams did(the minimum for getting an autobid this season). Of the three, one is ineligible for the playoffs. So the remaining two teams would have a 50/50 shot. And this would reduce the total at-large bids from six to five.

Current MEAC teams playing:
1-1 Delaware St
1-1 SC St
0-1 Howard (ineligible)

They should do away with the auto bids and just take the 16 best teams. That's if there are 16 teams still able to play.....

The NCAA's lack of foresight is coming back to bite them. They told the MEAC they could have an autobid and then made a dumb exception to the 6 teams required for an autobid rule this spring dropping it to 3. They can't backtrack on it now, especially with an HBCU conference, without it becoming a political mess. Instead it's just a competitive mess which is preferable to the alternative. They should've kept the minimum teams required for an autobid at 6 this spring.

Yep, very good to see although I'd assume that ESPN's decision moreso than the NCAA's. Hopefully this means earlier rounds games will get their normal ESPN network slots (both semifinals and two quarterfinals on the national networks) or possibly even more with not much else to compete with in late April and early May.

They should say that, because Howard is playoff ineligible, the MEAC only has two qualifying teams playing and doesn't meet the threshold.
