Meanwhile he studies every playbook in the NFL. So easy to learn a new offense. He'll be starting opening day.

Starting to think Wentz is doing a quiet retirement, like Larry Fitzgerald. If there isn't any speculation about Tampa Bay picking him up it just might be because he's not looking.
Still think he has a place in the NFL. Hope he finds another chance and proves it.
Wentz will get picked up
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?
Assuming there are no more QB injuries before the regular season and Carson wants to get another shot at being a starting QB down the line, I have an opinion on what I think Carson should do.
Have your agent call Cincy and say you'll be the #2 QB and are willing to do it for the minimum (add big incentives for games started and games won, like 250k for each game started and another 250k for games he starts and they win, with a cap of $5mil available incentives).
Why Cincy would do it:
-Their current backup QBs are bad and their roster is great.
-The division is brutal and they need someone who can keep them afloat should Burrow get hurt again.
-Wentz for the minimum is a bargain.
Why Wentz should do it:
-Cincy is built to win now. The whole roster is loaded and he'd have tremendous weapons if he plays. The OL has been improved and I expect them to be a borderline top 10 unit this year. Even if he doesn't play, they have made a Super Bowl and the AFC Championship the last 2 years, so they present an option for a long, successful season.
-It's a scenario where if Wentz has to start for a month, he could thrive. Plus, with how veteran this team is, he doesn't have to be the leader, he can walk in, work to improve, be a good teammate, and set himself up for the future.
-I don't think Wentz would do well if he waited for an injury, signed off the street, and was quickly thrust into the starting role.
-Burrow has had numerous injuries and is dealing with a calf strain right now. Roughly 25% chance he re-injures that and misses time.
-Rumors are that Burrow will appear on season 2 of Quarterback (great show and hard to not walk away from season one liking Kirk Cousins a ton). Whether right or wrong, this would give Wentz a chance to rehabilitate his image some and showcase him being a good, supportive teammate.
-It would give him numerous QB centric coaches to work with. HC Zac Taylor is a former QB coach, OC Brian Callahan is a former QB coach and was a finalist for a HC job, Dan Pilcher is the QB coach and was a finalist for OC jobs. That's a lot of expertise to work with. Also, say you impress Callahan and he gets a HC job, that probably gives you an inside track wherever he goes.
This is just what I would like to see as a Bison and Bengals fan, and think it would make sense.
Agree with Big Bird. Carson needs to get back out there, and money shouldn't be the barrier (agents and advisors be damned).
Bison gonna Bison, FCS or FBS(tm)
Money is not a barrier - he's made plenty of it.
It's mostly that NFL teams don't want him unless they have no choice.
Part of it could be ego as well - he thinks he's a starter but he's not and needs to mentally deal with that.
But mostly, it's that no one wants him.
It would be advantageous for a team to sign him as a backup now - they can say, you are the backup, you will get paid as such.
If they waited until an emergency during the season, Carson's agent could ask for much more in terms of pay, as the team would be desperate. But, again, not a single team has signed him, which tells me they don't want him or his ego thinks he is a starting QB still.
