Don't remember which game it was....but in one of yesterday's games, an offense started a drive from their own half yard line. 1st and 10....then, false start on the offense. Ball was moved back a few inches: still 1st down.
I'd like to see a loss of down rule option for the defense otherwise there is almost no consequence for the offense.
If the defense had a pre snap neutral zone foul, the ball would go to the 5 1/2 yard line....and 1st and 5 for the offense.
Don't believe everything you think.
It is interesting where the rules of the game provide advantaged penalties. Not that anything necessarily needs to be changed, it's just interesting to take note. Like the returning kicking the ball into the endzone before recovering it. Or a returning stepping out of bounds and touching a ball. Nothing wrong, just interesting twists to the complex rules of football.
