That’s a sweet improvement and really nice come back dufferole! If they play anything like that tomorrow, Team Soul Sisters stands to jump up leaps and bounds on the board with the much easier best ball format in place!

Of the 3 doubles events , I think alternate shot is the toughest. If you are not playing well, it turns into screwing your partner. Even worse if your partner reciprocates.

    What’s the 3rd format?

The third would be scramble, which is taking the best shot of each player on every shot (drive, approach, even putts) and both players hit from that spot. You don’t see too much scramble format used at the pro level though, and, of course, this event is not using it. They go very low just with best ball, which is taking the best score of the players on each hole, but they play their own ball. The Jutanugarn sisters shot an eleven under 59 yesterday in best ball, and I’d love to see Amy and Katherine do something similar on Saturday! That said, Team Soul Sisters (Amy and Katherine) did shoot a 7 under 63 in the second round for their best ball score, so they are capable of going very low in a best ball format! Alternate shot, like dufferole said, is the toughest format to score well in, and every shot counts. Lots of pressure to put your partner in a decent spot with no throwaways. Scramble scores are crazy low for good players, and is used more in corporate and charity events for amateurs. Scramble events usually involve a lot of drinking and shenanigans! One exception is the PNC Championship, which I believe is totally played as a scramble. https://www.pncchampionship.com/about-the-event/

Team Kirk Olson shot an even par best ball round to finish 6 under for the tourney. Currently tied for 35th place.

Jutanugarn’s shot 59 again today. That’s two better ball 59’s in a row for them. Just stupid good. Seemed like every time I turned around Moriya was in with a par and Ariya came right behind her and banged a 25 footer against the back of the cup for a birdie.

Congrats to the Jutanugarns for winning this one convincingly! Seems that they are both in career form like BA noted already! Also nice to see some very familiar and nostalgic names make great runs today including Brittany Lang and Brittany Lincicome, Christie Kerr, and Stacy Lewis.

Wasn’t meant to be for Amy and Katherine this week, but they showed some very nice play in both formats. Sure they are extremely disappointed.

On to Europe for a foursome of very exciting events including the last two majors of 2021, one of which is this upcoming week in France. Concerning the Evian, maybe Amy can reignite greatness there from when she fell just short back in 2017.
