I’ve had the good fortune to be on course for 3 or 4 PGA tournament rounds.

They took out A LOT of trees.

11 used to play entirely to the left of the creek that now splits the fairway. If I remember correctly 12 was left to right and now it may be right to left off the tee.

15 green was in a horseshoe stand of pines you couldn’t see the clubhouse and that’s all gone.

Outstanding BA! Wonder if DORMIE or some others have had the chance to visit there also?

Here is another article regarding the course and history:

Have not been to Congressional, however I
have a high school friend, Dick McConn from
Valley City that has been a member there for years.
Dick spends some time in the summer in DL. Former
    military.

Amy shot a 3 over 75 in the 1st round of the Women's PGA Championship. She had 3 bogies and no birdies and was 9 of 18 gir and took 30 putts. She currently is in a tie for 58th.

She needs to kick that GIR up a notch dufferole and she should be fine. I recall last year when she was sitting on TOP of the LPGA GIR stats and I was fussing about her lowering her PPR stat. I apologize for that once again! She has proven herself on the toughest courses with a great ability to handle adversity and string together pars when pars are hard to come by, hit the ball high which Congressional has been known to demand, and hit GIR like a machine. Another nice connection between Amy and Congressional is that her swing coach, Ron Stockton, is the son of Dave Stockton, who won the PGA Championship there in 1976.

Excellent DORMIE! Thanks for sharing that! Here’s to Amy having a great tournament for an old friend’s sake also! She has fared very well in DL on occasion herself! Sounds like two folks who ought to meet each other if they haven’t already.

I can imagine that Amy’s late, much beloved Father-in-Law, Captain Lee Olson, would have greatly enjoyed and appreciated her competing on these grounds. Lee Olson knew more than a little about surviving cuts, as one of the huge challenges he handled during his life well lived was Army Ranger School. Rest In Peace Sir.
