This is a great point. I'd like to be an FBS program. But if we're not, let's at least be a decent D1 mid-major basketball program. Funding FCS football to the level we are is a bit much when compared to most of our FCS peers. Meanwhile, a number of our FCS peers have reputable basketball programs. Ours, on the other hand, consistently relies on a desperate bid to win the Summit tourney in order make the postseason. If we are going to deliver a mediocre football product to the fans (and that's by definition what we are doing when we only get to play mediocre teams), then let's at least compete at the highest level in basketball.
I don't care what Jim says. That is not the real Ben Franklin. I'm 99% certain.

Especially when it comes to not breaking the law. Remember, you are talking to a felon.

Funniest thing is the guy doesn’t contribute a dime to team makers.

No way. Why on earth would you stop doing what you are best at?

You are right that NDSU is outspent by loads of other FCS level athletic departments when it comes to basketball and that's an excellent opportunity to make the school more attractive to FBs conferences but NDSU is also outspent by a handful of FCS programs in football too.... namely by the Montana schools (even though Montana State's head coach whines about NDSU doing FCOA), JMU (by a lot), Delaware, and Jacksonville State.

How much of that could be explained by adjusting for location? And how much of it is stuff like facilities maintenance?

I think those schools own their stadiums...I wonder if they are including the cost of running them with the football program. Also...scholarships at an expensive school like JMU could explain a chunk of differences as well.

To maximize competitive programs across the board, especially one that could have an opportunity to improve significantly without the expense of others.

The football dominance is great and all, but fans of college football across the country have started recognizing the program for what it is, and rolling their eyes at the notion that it still continues to lump itself in with programs like UND, USD, Western Illinois, and the rest of the joke that FCS is competitively other than maybe 2 or 3 other programs. Watching NDSU wallow around in FCS is similar to similar to watch Alabama dominate a conference like the Sunbelt. Everything's fun about it except the actual football game, which is over by halftime every week.

In a world of streaming, you add the most entertaining program that gives your conference a chance to get post season cash and gets people to stream the games on the phone. NDSU does all of these vastly more than UTEP and texas state. (and rutgers)
#1 is stability. Most of the CUSA schools arent bolting for the MWC anytime soon. If they were looking to add a school or 2 they would likely look to Texas.

Outing someone on this board as a convicted felon is a really shitty thing to do, considering all he is doing is trying to make a case that you happen to disagree with...
